How to Use Deer-Lix

1. Find a Location. Find an area where there is a known concentration of deer, or a place with a lot of deer tracks or droppings. Ideally, a small hill or knoll bordered by a swampy area can be used. One DEER-LIX station will take care of 50 – 60 acres, depending on the terrain, and how the acreage is stretched out in length. NOTE: since DEER-LIX is so attractive to deer, we suggest that hunting not be done in close proximity to your dispensing station(s), as this may violate the game laws in your state.

2. Prepare the Area. Clear an area of about eight feet in diameter, removing leaves and other debris. In the center of the clearing, dig a hole five inches deep and 20 inches in diameter.

3. Put Out the DEER-LIX. Pour the entire contents of the 25 pound bag of ready-mixed DEER-LIX into the hole (If you purchase the concentrate, mix five pounds of concentrate with 25 pounds of granulated red trace mineral salt.). Mix in about four double handfuls of clay. Mix well and level the mixture out.

4. Maintain the DEER-LIX Stations. Visit your dispensing station(s) at least once a month to determine if they are depleted. If you find it depleted, you should replenish it right away. Once the herd has found the station, you will see more and more deer using it, as well as an increase in the numbers in the herd. The herd will range closer to the station, and raise their young nearby. You may see less activity during the last three months of the year, during the mating season. Don’t let this change your habit of keeping your stations constantly supplied, as it is important for the deer to always know that DEER-LIX is available at that spot.
